Webinar: Heading into 2021: The Future of Legislative Initiatives Related to Climate Change and Social Justice

In the 2020 national election, Americans will cast their ballot and vote for their presidential candidate, representatives of 35 Senate seats and 435 House of Representative seats.

Engage with panelists in a discussion about appropriations and new legislative initiatives related to climate change and social justice. Hear how you can affect the first 100 days of the 117th Congress on climate and health issues.

Speakers will provide information on the outcomes of the 2020 national elections and what it means for overall public health priorities.

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1.  Identify at least three determinants of health-related to climate change and determine 2 legislative initiatives addressing the issues of climate change and social justice related to identified health issues. (5.1.1 Examine the determinants of health and their underlying causes (e.g., poverty, trauma, and population-based discrimination).
  2. Determine at least three factors that influenced decision-makers from the 2020 election on their policy and legislative priorities related to climate change and social justice. (5.2.2 Identify factors that influence decision-makers (e.g., societal and cultural norms, financial considerations, upcoming elections, and voting record)).
