WASHINGTON, D. C. – The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is proud to announce that Eta Sigma Gamma (ESG) will be awarded Most Valuable Partner Award during the 2025 Annual Conference in Long Beach, April 16-18.
“This award represents the hard work of our ESG Board of Directors for the last three years to develop a partnership and identify new ways to support the mission and goals of SOPHE,” ESG President Dr. Jennifer Evans said. “It recognizes the important and valuable partnership between our two organizations.”
This award is given by SOPHE staff to recognize excellence in collaboration and partnership with SOPHE to improve the profession and the public’s health.
Eta Sigma Gamma is a national public health education society comprised of 90+ chapters and approximately 1,200 members across the United States.
“The mission of ESG includes promoting the field of health education, providing networking and professional development opportunities, and advancing the field of health education,” Evans explained. “This award reflects the work of both SOPHE and ESG in developing and promoting opportunities for students to become more involved in the profession and to connect with other health educators.”
ESG embodies this award as an organization that has worked closely with SOPHE to create meaningful opportunities for students and professionals in the field of health education.
“Words cannot describe how appreciative ESG is of this award and our partnership with SOPHE,” Evans said. “We look forward to continuing to develop a strong relationship with SOPHE and providing opportunities for health educators through both organizations to advance the field of health education.”
Dr. Evans also recognized the hard work of SOPHE leadership, specifically SOPHE CEO William Datema, and ESG Board of Directors over the last three years, especially Vice President Katie Wagoner.
“Without these individuals, this work would not be possible,” Evans noted.
SOPHE will present all awards and scholarships to public health professionals, health education researchers, faculty, programs, and practitioners at the 2025 SOPHE Annual Conference in April in Long Beach. These awards and scholarships recognize significant advancements in the profession of health education and health promotion and outstanding contributions of well-established and rising stars to improving the public’s health.
