SOPHE CEO Dr. William Datema received Eta Sigma Gamma’s (ESG’s) 2024 Robert J. Synovitz Distinguished Service Award during ESG’s Annual Meeting at the SOPHE Annual Conference in St. Louis last month.

The award was given in recognition of outstanding service to furthering the goals of Eta Sigma Gamma. Datema was chosen because of his contributions to the health education field and “noteworthy contribution to Eta Sigma Gamma in guiding ESG as our first ESG 2.0 Executive Director during a time of transition.”

“I am thankful to the leadership of ESG for this award,” Datema said. “Eta Sigma Gamma is dear to me, and their role in the health education professional pipeline with SOPHE and NCHEC is critical. SOPHE is proud to be a close partner of ESG.”
