National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week: Its Time for Students to Shatter the Myths
Nearly one in three students in 12th-grade report past-year vaping, according to 2017 Monitoring the Future survey. Monitoring the Future data also show that among teens, daily marijuana use has become more popular than daily cigarette smoking. Additionally, among college-aged young adults, daily marijuana use is at the highest it has been since the early 1980s. During this webinar, health educators will learn about National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week® (NDAFW) and related best practices in substance use education to help Shatter The Myths® about drugs and alcohol for students in their communities. Participants will learn how to elevate existing substance use education efforts and address their communities’ unique needs through NDAFW. Presenters will highlight the available free resources, explain the event toolkits, and help participants understand how to align best practices with activity ideas to teach students the facts about how drugs and alcohol affect the brain, body, and behavior.
