Core Competencies for Injury and Violence Prevention

Similar to the Health Education Competencies, used as the basis for training and certifying heath education professionals, competencies were developed specifically for professionals working in Injury and Violence prevention. In order to “create a common understanding of the essential skills and knowledge necessary to excel…” for all injury professionals from diverse disciplines, The National Training Initiative (NTI) for Injury and Violence Prevention developed the Core Competencies for Injury and Violence Prevention. The NTI is a joint project of the State and Territorial Injury Prevention Directors Association (STIPDA) and the Society for the Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR).

See the Core Competencies for Injury and Violence Prevention (May 2005).
