Society for Public Health Education
SOPHE is an independent, international, professional association
made up of a diverse membership of health education professionals
and students. The society promotes healthy behaviors, healthy communities,
and healthy environments through its membership, its network of
local chapters, and its numerous partnerships with other organizations.
With its primary focus on public health education, SOPHE provides
leadership through a code of ethics, standard for professional preparation,
research, and practice; professional development; and public outreach.
Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention
(DUIP),
National Center for Injury Prevention and Control,
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
As one of the three divisions of NCIPC, DUIP's research
and prevention programs target two types of unintentional injury:
(1) transportation injuries, such as those related to older drivers
with medical impairments, young drivers, alcohol impaired drivers,
and pedestrians; and (2) home and recreation related injuries, such
as those related to falls among older adults, residential fires,
water safety, and playground or sports related injuries. Injuries
among high-risk populations are a special focus.

Division Violence Prevention (DVP),
National Center for Injury Prevention and Control,
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Since 1992, the Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) has
been one of the three divisions within the CDC National Center for
Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC). Using the public health model
for many of their programs, DVP was established to prevent injuries
and deaths caused by violence. The CDC has identified priority
areas for violence prevention research and programs, which include
intimate partner and sexual violence, child maltreatment, youth
violence and suicide.
