Resources Developed in Response to Earthquake in Haiti
The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) is actively engaged in the Haiti earthquake response. CDC's Marcus Emergency Operations Center has been activated, and experts are assessing public health needs, outlining health risks, offering health recommendations and coordinating the future deployment of public health response teams.
As part of an integrated U.S. government response, CDC's parent agency, the Department of Health and Human Services, is deploying medical personnel, medical supplies and equipment from the National Disaster Medical System and the U.S. Public Health Service to help save lives and provide immediate medical care.
Additionally, CDC has added new documents to the CDC Earthquake Website in response to the recent tragedy that has taken place in Haiti. These materials include:
- Emergency Wound Management for Healthcare Professionals
- Public Health Issues and Priorities for the Haiti Earthquake
- Guidance for Relief Workers and Others Traveling to Haiti for Earthquake Response
- Travel Health Warning to Haiti
- Guidance for U.S. Residents in Haiti
- Health Recommendations for Relief Workers Responding to Disasters
- After an Earthquake: Management of Crush Injuries & Crush Syndrome
SOPHE's Emergency Preparedness Website also offers a wealth of resources for those seeking more information on emergency response.
